What is Nutritional Balancing?

Nutritional Balancing Science is the result of over 50 years of research correlating Hair Mineral Analysis results to conditions in the body and their relation to minerals, vitamins, diet, etc..  This research resulted in astounding advancements in decoding the complex ways in which minerals interrelate (whereby a change in one mineral level in the body necessarily creates changes in numerous other mineral levels).  Because minerals are the “spark plugs” of life, involved in almost every metabolic process in the body, these various mineral changes are essential to health — or lack of health as is the case with most adults and even children today.

Due to environmental stress and agricultural practices which have deprived our food of essential nutrients, most people today have varying degrees of imbalance in these essential minerals, resulting in metabolic inefficiencies which can cause a reduction in energy and the onset of any number of symptoms.

What is Hair Mineral Analysis?

Hair Mineral Analysis is a soft tissue mineral biopsy.  With this process we’re looking specifically to detect minerals.

Hair Mineral Analysis provides a reading of minerals deposited in and around the cells of the hair over a 2-3 month period.  These readings allow one to understand what is occurring in other tissues of the body.

Nutritional Balancing, through the use of Hair Mineral Analysis, goes beyond symptom removal by efficiently and accurately determining these imbalances and then providing for the body the exact balance and quantity of nutrients required to allow a person to recover his or her innate health and vitality.

How are Hair Mineral Analysis and Nutritional Balancing performed?

Hair Mineral Analysis is a painless, non-invasive, procedure conducted with a pair of scissors over a small area of hair on the head to obtain a lab sample (in virtually all cases, sampling causes no change in the appearance of one’s hair or hairstyle).  An independent clinical lab then conducts a standardized analysis of 20 key mineral levels found both in and around the cells of the hair.  This analysis is then evaluated by Ms. Vennari (in consultation with co-developer of Nutritional Balancing Science, Dr. Lawrence Wilson, M.D.), and recommendations for specific nutrients, diet and exercise are formulated.

A full report of the findings, evaluation, and recommendations will be provided to the client along with ongoing private consultation with Ms. Vennari.  Client questions and/or concerns are always expected, respected and welcome.

What are the advantages of Hair Mineral Analysis over other testing procedures?

Hair provides a unique cellular reading of the mineral levels.  Cells are the major site of metabolic activity.  Typical tests such as blood and urine (while often testing for the presence or absence of cells) rarely analyze the cells themselves.  Blood tests are excellent but do not provide the same information given by hair analysis for the following reasons:

a)  Mineral levels in the hair are about ten times that of blood, making them easy to detect and measure accurately, thus providing a tremendous amount of knowledge about the cells and the soft tissues of our bodies.
b)  Mineral levels are kept relatively constant in the blood even when pathology is present and therefore do not always accurately reflect existing mineral deficiencies and excesses.
c)  Toxic metals are also much easier to detect in the hair.  They are not found in high concentrations in the blood except right after an acute exposure.  However, some of them tend to accumulate in the soft tissues (such as hair), where they are far easier to detect and measure accurately.
d)  Blood tests can vary significantly from hour to hour depending upon one’s diet, activity level, the time of day and many other factors.

Additionally, hair makes an excellent biopsy material because:

1. Sampling is simple and non-invasive.
2. Hair is a stable biopsy material.  It requires no special handling and will remain viable for years.
3. Advancements in computer-controlled mass spectroscopy and other sciences have rendered the hair mineral biopsy an extremely cost-effective, accurate and reliable test if and when it is done correctly.
